Miguel Adaro

“One for all and all for one”

Miguel Adaro, (DOB 1970) Manager and founder of ARTSECO
Miguel Adaro, (DOB 1970) Manager and founder of ARTSECO

My typical working day:

… consists of communicating and managing. The day starts with a team meeting, then I move on to may e-mails and transport organization. Next a tour of the store and touching base with all the art handlers. I am always talking to someone – staff, partners, suppliers and customers. I keep an eye on all the aspects of the company: all forms of transport – air, sea and land – as well as the storage and everything else. I double-check everything, making any necessary changes. I am also constantly looking for new challenges, fairs and customers whilst never taking my eye off out turnover figures.

Customers meet me…

… at fairs and exhibitions. I keep an overview of the entire situation and act as the interface between customers, my team and our local partners. Put simply: I look after everything and everyone. I also lend a hand as an installer. I have a reputation as one of the last hands-on bosses.

My background:

With a background in interior design, I became used to dealing with very rich people, stars and diplomats. Later, I gathered important experience as a Key Account Manager for VIP moves for the removals company Froesch. I was also responsible for founding and managing the art department. Identifying the problems which beset the department, I decided to take my insights to ARTSECO.

My Training:

I started as a carpenter and later graduated in Business Administration for the furniture sector. Moving to Lakeside Interiors, a furniture shop, I was responsible for very valuable goods. This taught me the respect involved in dealing with other people’s valuables.

Why I work for ARTSECO:

What Makes me Indispensable:

I am the lubricant that keeps the motor running. I never tire. I never give up. My colleagues and partners appreciate by reliability, flexibility loyalty.

What I like to laugh about with my colleagues:

We like to laugh at ourselves.

What my colleagues say about me:

I am always honest. Face to face criticism and praise. I never overwork anyone. Having worked in all parts of this business, I know what I can expect of people. I make it my mission to ensure that everyone is enjoying themselves. For example, when working in Miami, I never rent hotel rooms for my staff, but a large villa with a pool. This is excellent for the group dynamic.

My Role at ARTSECO:

I am usually in the office, where I take care of the co-ordination, discuss the jobs with my colleagues and liaise with partners and customers. I am also involved in business acquisition, all aspects of order processing and the planning of fairs. I take care of the numbers, controlling, turnover checks and prepare the books for the accountant.

Customers Meet me in my Capacity as…

… their contact partner for aspects of the transport and planning. A lot of customers ask me about customs requirements, and I always look forward to meeting them at fairs and exhibitions. I also run training days.

My Background:

Having trained as a multi-lingual secretary with a specialism in English and French, I worked for Hasenkamp, the world’s largest art transport company, where I trained and worked as a logistics manager. Looking back, that provided me with the best-possible preparation: I draw on both aspects of my training, from which all ARTSECO customers profit. I was on board at ARTSECO from day one, and saw all the challenges involved in building up the company. Learning the ropes as a transport manager, I learnt all there was to know, a process which saw me manage tasks for all the majority of the world’s art fairs many times.

Why I Came to ARTSECO and Decided to Stay:

Although I am not the boss, I still see ARTESCO as my baby, having been here from day one. I enjoy the freedoms which my position affords me. I would very much like to take the next step with ARTESCO, taking the company to the next level.

What Makes me Indispensable:

Life is a team sport, so I am sure that I am not indispensable.

What I Like to Laugh About with my Colleagues:

Jokes and life. Everything is there to be laughed at.

What my Colleagues Say About me:

I would like to think that they find me honest and direct, in all situations.

Was mich ziemlich unentbehrlich macht:
